Accredited Youth
& Community Work Training

Informal Learning is a recognised training provider for the YMCA George Williams College in London and we are able to deliver nationally recognised and accredited qualifications in youth & community work.

We have successfully delivered our training in various communities across West Yorkshire. The organisations we support are typically within the Third and Public Sectors. Some of our past and current customers include NACRO, Groundwork Wakefield, West Yorkshire Learning Consortium, Wakefield’s Young Lives Consortium, Calderdale Community Forum and Wakefield’s Youth Development & Support Service.

Level 2 Certificate
in Youth & Community Work (ABC)

The programme is suitable for people working with children and young people in informal settings wishing to develop their existing knowledge and understanding. Previous participants have included senior members, volunteers, part-time staff and year 11 students involved in extended schools programmes. Students will complete the course with a greater understanding of the theory, practical skills and knowledge required to work with children and young people within a youth and community context.

Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work, Informal Education and Community Learning (ABC)
This professional qualification is for people involved in informal education, youth work, mentoring and community learning, enabling learners to explore their values and beliefs, engage more deeply with others to assist them in learning, identify and use resources within the community, and plan and evaluate their work.

As tutors we have successfully delivered these courses to:

Organisational Support & Mentoring
We offer a much wider training portfolio of non accredited training schemes including, but not limited to, child protection, policies & procedures, supervision, detached youth work, personal finance management and social enterprise. We also provide mentor packages and consultancy to individuals and organisations that are starting out in or looking to enhance their existing youth and community work. For Example:

  • Marilyn is lead member of YARN (The Rank Youth Work Network) and we have provided organisational support to several new projects across the UK that have received funding from The Rank Foundation.
  • We provide organisational support and consultancy to The Saviour Trust, an award winning homeless charity in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
  • We provide support to organisational members of Wakefield’s Young Lives Consortium, including training, advice and mentoring.
  • Marilyn provides direct line management to a highly successful Rank project in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
